The best sunscreens for acne-prone skin

Happy August!

The heat and humidity are both very real right now up here in New England. Since many people are hitting the beach or on vacation in August, I thought I would write about my favorite sunscreens for acne-prone/sensitive skin! As someone who has struggled with acne and has always had sensitive skin, I’ve had a hard time finding sunscreens that work and don’t clog my pores. Over the years, I have tried many different brands of sunscreen, so here are my favorites:

Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen – Sensitive Skin

This sunscreen has been a staple in my extremely pale family for years. We tried several versions, such as the sport and baby, however this one tends to be the best. It’s great for a full body sunscreen, as well as a face sunscreen. Blue Lizard has a specific face sunscreen as well, but it looks exactly the same as the sensitive skin. The bottle also turns blue in UV light, to let you know when you are exposed to it and when to reapply.

Coola Sport Face White Tea Sunscreen

I received this sunscreen in my summer FabFitFun box and it might be my favorite product. The formula is very light, smells amazing and waterproof. Perfect for summer vacations and fun in the sun. It also didn’t cause any breakouts or any sensitivity after use! A higher SPF is always better for my skin, and this Coola sunscreen is SPF 50.

Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen

My mom discovered Supergoop! last summer, and she loved it so much she bought a whole sampler of all their products from a local store. All of their products feel light, but certainly get the job done when it comes to sun protection. In addition to their Everyday Sunscreen, I really like Supergoop’s SPF lip balm.

Sun Bum Face Stick

Sun Bum products have been some of my favorite’s because they have an amazing banana-like smell and come in varying SPFs. I like the face stick because it’s compact and easy to carry around for spontaneous use or reapplying at the beach or pool!

Remember to wear sunscreen into fall to protect from harmful UV rays and skin cancer. Just because it’s not 90º anymore doesn’t mean the sun isn’t beating down on us!
