Review: Skin Laundry after 4 treatments

I’m back with my review of Skin Laundry! As I wrote previously, I started going to Skin Laundry for their laser and light facial. The first appointment is free, which is great because the treatments are usually $75!

I just had my 4th week getting a laser and light facial, which I have really been enjoying. I felt as if the first 2 weeks I did see an improvement in my skin. I came out of the facial glowing, and my skin looking great. I had a few small breakouts that subsided quickly following my treatments, but nothing huge or noticeable.

This past Thursday, they used a stronger laser because I had done well with the last two treatments. I thought my skin didn’t look as good afterwards, but it looked great the next day. This week I used the highest level laser, and my skin adjusted to it well!

I’m continuing my laser and light facials twice a month after this last treatment — they have a membership which gives you a slight discount, and I feel like this could really help my skin over time.

Stay tuned!

Review: Laser Facial at Skin Laundry

Recently, I stumbled upon Skin Laundry on Instagram stories. After looking at their social media and website, I knew I had to try it! The first appointment is free, which is awesome for an expensive service.

The staff made me feel very welcome and comfortable, as well as did the RN that was performing the treatment. They have a few different treatments, however the free treatment is the laser and light facial. They use a YAG laser first, which is like a warm, pop rocks feeling. Then they use an Intense Pulse Light laser which helps to kill bacteria, and target pigmentation, inflammation and redness.

I was nervous for the treatment, as I have very sensitive skin, however the facial was quick and got easier as it went on. At first, the laser felt shocking on my skin, but after the first round I didn’t feel it at all! The second round is painless, although they do use a powerful light which you can see through the goggles. Since it was free, I decided to add a hydration boost because the cold weather was making my skin extremely dry. The hydration boost was nice and cooling after the laser treatment!

My skin looked great post-treatment and I was very hopeful that this would help with my acne scars and inflammation over time. I had a small breakout the next day, but it quickly subsided and my skin looked great over the weekend! I would definitely recommend trying this if you have acne prone skin, acne scars, pigmentation, or really any other skin issues!

I am going again this week, and I will hopefully give an update on my progress! If you decide to go, feel free to reach out for a referral 🙂

Spray tan at Sugared + Bronzed

I posted ages ago on Instagram that I was getting a spray tan at Sugared + Bronzed. I discovered you have to make an appointment a little bit further in advance, and couldn’t get an appointment to try the sugaring hair removal.

However, I was able to get my first ever spray tan! I was so nervous to get a spray tan, because of the typical concerns: It might look unnatural/orange, what if it streaks. I also was just concerned it might look uncharacteristic, as I am VERY pale.

All of my concerns were washed away after I went to Sugared + Bronzed in Union Square. I opted for the regular tan, where you don’t sweat or shower for at least 8 hours after. I’ve never tried the express tan, although this might be great if you have limited time on your hands.

Jade, my spray tan artist, made me feel so comfortable and gave me some great tips for keeping my tan lasting. She told me that moisturizer was the key to a long lasting tan. I workout and shower very often, and the tan lasted over a week with moisturizer slathered on post-shower. It wasn’t as tan on day 4 or 5, but you could still tell I was definitely tanner than my usual self.

I felt like there was some kind of stigma around spray/fake tans. While tanning beds are not good for you, spray tans are harmless and make you look great. My confidence was up from just looking tan. I didn’t look too tan, I didn’t look orange, I just looked and felt awesome.

Sugared + Bronzed also has a new client special:  if you buy one service, you get a second one for free! I can’t wait to use my next tan for a special occasion, or even just for fun.

Lypsyl’s Original Mint Lip Balm

I recently started using Lypsyl’s Intense Protection Original Mint Lip Balm. The silky, Swedish beeswax lip balm has a light mint scent, along with that minty feel.

IMG_1830
The texture of the balm is so smooth and creamy, perfect for those with constantly chapped lips! I also like the size and color of the packaging, as I tend to lose small products in my purse (it’s a black hole). The cute bee lever doesn’t hurt either!

After using this product for a few days, so far I really like it. I like the slight tingle that the minty balm gives my lips, and I like the light scent.

This balm as also done wonders for my chapped lips, which for some reason I have all year round! The softening ingredients, such as coconut oil and shea butter, make a huge difference.

PSA: Renée Rouleau has changed the name of an amazing product!

Just a quick update:

I was writing an article for work the other day, specifically about skin. I found some advice from Renée Rouleau and I thought it was great information to include in the article.

I also stumbled upon Rouleau’s Twitter account while doing my research. Here I discovered that she is changing the name of one of her most beloved products!

The “Anti Cyst Treatment” is now called the “Anti Bump Solution.” While I originally purchased this because of my occasional cystic acne, I use it on regular pimples as well. I highly recommend this product, and have written about it in the past on the blog.

The name has changed, but the product remains the same. Just wanted to share with the world as this information is of vital importance!

Oh ps. Renée Rouleau is also having their anniversary sale starting this Thursday, August 24 until September 2nd!

Products I’m Loving Right Now

While waiting to meet some friends for dinner recently, I stopped in to blue mercury to kill some time. I’m always looking for masks or creams to help clear my skin of blemishes and impurities. Here I picked up a few products that I really like, so I wanted to share a few other products I have been impressed with! From skin care to home fragrances, these products are on my list of necessities.

Mario Badescu, Cucumber Tonic Mask, $18

This mask is amazing, and I would be honest if I thought otherwise. I have used many different skin care products over the years, and I see visible results from this mask. I noticed that my skin appeared to be tighter and my pores cleared of impurities. 10/10 would recommend to those with blackheads and/or acne. I have fairly sensitive skin and this hasn’t irritated it at all.

Renee RouleauPost-Breakout Fading Gel, $38.50

This stuff is pricey, but worth it in my opinion. I ordered this product to meet the shipping minimum and this product has really impressed me. I see visible results after daily application, which is some what of a unicorn in the skincare world.

Renee RouleauAnti-Cyst Treatment, $45.50

PSA– this is a lifesaver. Last week, I felt a cystic blemish appearing on my face. I don’t get them super often, but when I do they are usually large, red and painful. For years I would get this cystic acne and be in the dermatologist’s office getting cortisone shots to make them go down. This stuff works like a charm, I put it on the cystic pimple I saw felt on my face last week and its gone after 2-3 applications. I’m considering switching all my facial skin care products over to Renee Rouleau products.

Bath & Body Works, Bondi Beach Single Wick Candle, $14.50

I stumbled into Bath & Body Works a few weekends ago. I’m a sucker for these deals and for scented candles. This candle smells like summer, in a banana-flavored sunscreen kind of way. The smell is so great and it makes me feel relaxed when I’m trying to wind down at night.

Fresh,  Hesperides Grapefruit Eau de Parfum, $25

My second blue mercury pick up; this scent is light and smells exactly like grapefruit, not one bit artificial. Rollerballs have become a favorite of mine just for the convenience of them. I carry this around in my purse just in case I need to freshen up.

Glossier,  Lidstar, $30 for 2

Personally, I’ve never really been “into” makeup. I like mascara and a BB cream to cover my face, but I never really ventured much into eyeshadows other than a neutral palette from the drug store. These cream eye shadows are all parts glittery and easy to apply. Simple, but effective.

All of these are relatively affordable as well as available online, so feel free to try some and let me know what you think!
